Our Advocacy Commitment

2016 will mark Ellison Wilson Advocacy’s 23rd anniversary representing the California Tow Truck Association at our state Capitol. During this period the team at Ellison Wilson Advocacy, working in close collaboration with the CTTA Legislative Committee, has successfully defended the towing industry against harmful legislation and regulations, while lobbying for new laws and requirements that have a positive impact on your industry. CTTA has been successful because of our very active, aggressive and committed Legislative Committee and our extremely effective and highly respected team of lobbyists from Ellison Wilson Advocacy, LLC. Following this November’s election, the dynamics at the State Legislature will change dramatically and it is now more important than ever that the CTTA focus on a strong legislative program as the towing industry will undoubtedly face serious challenges.

Originally established in 1980 by former Senator Bob Wilson as The Wilson Group, today Ellison Wilson Advocacy has expanded into a full-service government relations firm that has developed a reputation throughout the Capitol and around the state for sophisticated analysis and potent advocacy.

By assembled a hand-chosen, hard-working team of experienced attorneys, former legislators, and public relations professionals, Ellison Wilson Advocacy is able to pool their collective talents to provide clients with one of the strongest advocacy teams at California’s Capitol. The combined experiences and expertise developed over the course of distinguished political and legal careers ensures professional representation before the California Legislature and other governmental bodies in an increasingly complex and challenging atmosphere.

Ellison Wilson Advocacy, LLC has represented our Association since 1993. During this time Ellison Wilson Advocacy, LLC has lobbied more then 100 bills on behalf of the Association, introduced legislation to strengthens and professionalize the towing industry, and has gone to court to protect and defend the interests of the Association. Since the fall of 1999, the attorney members of Ellison Wilson Advocacy, LLC have served as General Counsel to the Association, with Brooks Wilson serving as Lead Counsel.

Meet Brooks Ellison

BROOKS ELLISON is the Managing Partner of Ellison Wilson Advocacy, LLC. Mr. Ellison is an accomplished attorney and a highly experienced legislative advocate. As a member of the California State Bar for nearly 25 years, his legal experience truly gives him a unique insight into the California political process and distinct advantage when advocating fro his clients at the Capitol.

Mr. Ellison is an expert in the drafting and shepherding of complex legislative matters. His swift analytical skills and ability to control any debate gives him a decisive edge as a legislative advocate. Prior to joining the Firm, Brooks was successful in founding and managing a successful Sacramento law firm. Later, he became the President, General Manager and Co-owner of the Yakima Sun Kings, a a professional basketball team in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Under his leadership, the Sun Kings went from last place in the league to winning the CBA Championship. During his second year with the team, Mr. Ellison served as the Chair of the League’s Executive Committee where he was twice named “Executive of the Year”, the only person to receive such an honor in the League’s 50 year history.

Mr. Ellison received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California State University at Chico.
